چکیده
Materials and methods 129 patients who underwent radical surgery for N0 colorectal cancer were selected and grouped into three age classes: <65 years, between 65 and 80, >80. A subpopulation of 44 patients with colorectal cancer in stage II was selected from the initial group for a comparison with a control population consisting of 63 patients who underwent radical surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy for neoplasms at the same stage.

Is Bax/Bcl-2 Ratio Considered as a Prognostic Marker with Age and Tumor Location in Colorectal Cancer?
Background: Bax and Bcl-2 are the major members of Bcl-2 family whose play a key role in tumor progression or inhibition of intrinsic apoptotic pathway triggered by mitochondrial dysfunction. Therefore, the balance between pro- and anti-apoptotic members of this family can determine the cellular fate. Methods: In this study, the relative level of mRNA expression of Bax and Bcl-2 genes was deter...

Pathological stage at presentation is the most important prognostic indicator in CRC. The TNM system of staging (by AJCC-American Joint Committee on Cancer) has now mostly replaced the original and modified Dukes’ staging system. Fiveyear survival based on this TNM staging is reflected in Table-I. About 30% of patients with this malignancy present in advanced stage and 50% of those who present ...
